On June 8, 2026, the Employment Development Department (EDD) announced $5 million in Farmworkers Advancement Program awards for five California organizations. EDD’s Farmworkers Advancement Program announcement states that each organization will receive $1 million.

Training Supported by the Awards

EDD says participants will receive training in English, mathematics, and digital literacy. The program also supports upskilling, career and financial coaching, referrals to education and other resources, and services intended to help farmworkers pursue opportunities within and outside agriculture.

The announcement describes a workforce initiative delivered through regional organizations. It does not change an individual’s eligibility for unemployment benefits or other EDD programs.
